spear throwing

Has anyone ever messed around with making an atl-atl, for throwing a spear or dart? I think I'd like to give this a try,...maybe try and find plans for one....

Do you have access 7/16 dall rod, river cane, or bamboo? If so, you will need minimum 5 ft in length, fetch them like you would and arrow,  drill back to give you a socket that will give you, your spear. Now find you some green willow cut a piece about 18 in long and 1 in. in diameter carve it to look like pic
