Just found this web site.http://www.anvilfire.com/index.htm. There are videos to watch tutorials and a section called ,iForge how to. This area has roughly a couple hundred listings on everything to do with forging. I've already looked at the one on tongs and now I'm ready to try again. Check this site out, it's cool thmbsup

be sure and leave a bread crumb trail if you go there may take you days to find your way back out but that's a great site for information
you may want to try these out as well
https://www.blacksmithsdepot.com/
http://www.centaurforge.com/
both are full if pics of new forge toys (I'm to cheap to buy them kinda more in the mind to make mine but the pics sure make it easy to get the ideas)

here is an example of what I'm talking about ( https://www.blacksmithsdepot.com/page.php?theLocation=/Resources/Product/Forging_Tools_misc/Flatter_-_Square.xml/ ) that's a flatter hammer the cheapest one that I've seen is $80.00 now here's my way of thinking you can but a 4lb hammer (http://www.stanleytools.com/default.asp?CATEGORY=SLEDGE+HAMMERS&TYPE=PRODUCT&PARTNUMBER=56-204&SDesc=4+Lb.+Jacketed+Fiberglass+Engineer+Hammer) for $20- $30 and then just weld a 3'' x 3'' x 3/4'' plate of 4140 to it and if you turn your heat up and run two welding passes around the hammer head you'll get the natural curl in the steal from the heat draw now you just need to buff it out to get that nice smooth face so lets look at what we have into this in cash $30 for the hammer $3-$5 in steal 5lbs of 7018 3/32'' rod $10 I'm guessing you'll need 2-3 rods  which works out to be about .05 a pop on rod. so we have gone from $80+ to about $35 AND 20 -30 mins of time

I still want all the toys but hey I'm cheap and make no bones about it so I'll make mine when and where I can
