Title: Epishamore?
Post by: hrayton on July 17, 2010, 01:58:29 AM
I just finished reading Osbourne Russells book, Journal of a Trapper, and he refers to using epishamores as bedding, am I to assume that this is the hump part of the hide of a Buffalo? For some reason I am having a hard time tracking ths word down and what it actually is....  'shok'

Epishamore or apishamore, apishameau or opishomo - a square piece of buffalo hide generally used as a saddle blanket by mountain men. Hope this helps Trout
