Agree with  Pathfinder , but if can keep the skills alive, we have done our purpose.  It is like having a paint box in small droplets when you start a project and then as it proceedes like a butterfly comming out of a cacoon(sp). or in my  way of thinkiing.

Pathfinder, You nailed it on the head alright! __ Today you mention Sioux stitched, squaw stitch, applique stitched, old style peyote stitch etc., and most today just say, WHAT? ___  Dull, Drab and Dirty is the theme of the times! ___ SAD! slep

There are still a few of us out there trying to make something nice out of those little pieces of glass. I'm just getting started at it and a few others in the club I belong to are doing some beading.

I've done traditional Lakota and Blackfoot bead work for close to 40 years. Today's colors and style are REALLY sad! :'( I realize styles change, but........??

??  Why is this, what caused this to happen?   What is PC correct?    I admit to not dressing PC, but if I were to go to Rondy etc I would want to relive the past in proper dress for what time period I would want to portray.   I myself cant stand brown or beige clothing.  Now if I was to wear buckskin, then tan colors would be fine, but still would need beadwork to spice up look.  For cloth I prefer Green to blend into the woodland.  I dont think any original Roger's Ranger would have worn brown or beige instead of Green.  They would not have survuved too long against the Northeast Indians if they went about wearing White or light tan.  I look at different pictures of members and aways got back to the outfit that Blackfeet wears, all except for the white leggings.   I am not critisizing, just  puttting in my 2 cents.   But Brown and tan and Dirty,  NOT for Me.  Also like the colonial garb as diplayed by dfoster and others.    Looks as if he/they just stepped out of a time machine,

If dirty is a sign of the times to portray the past, then the dirty should also be Blood Smeared to be more realistic.

I  realize there are different time periods that are to be portrayed and lived at Rondies etc,  So why would anyone NOT want to wear bead work?   Is it the cost $$$$?    Just my 2 cents.

I would love to answer your questions, but I think this post has gone way off the topic and not fair to Red Badger's original post!

No problem - the idea is to offer things for sale or trade here and if it generates a topic for conversation then we move it to another area can continue the conversations -

BTW Beadwork is still in her inventory... along with shirts, capotes, and soon pants...  :applause:
