Title: Sending Private Messages
Post by: Ironwood on July 27, 2008, 01:21:07 PM
This is the easiest way to send a Private Message (PM).

#1  Select the person you want to send the PM to.  Click on the little scroll below the person's avatar.

#2  Type in your message in the screen that pop's up.

#3  Check the little box down at the bottom of that screen "save a copy of my message".  Then click on "Send Message".   That's all there is to it. :)

(Ironwoods pictures detailing this process were in his photobucket account and linked here - His photos were deleted on the photbucket site so I  am rebuilding this post.  Red Badger)

Title: A question about Sending Private Messages
Post by: Rocky on March 26, 2011, 03:24:33 PM
Thank you for the work you are doing on the site, I am spending a lot of time on it and learning about traditional stuff, to bad I don't have an idea about gatherings out here in New Hampshire, yet. My question is about about PM messaging. I sent a PM to bulldog lady about capote making, asking questions, I forgot to put something in the subject and hit the key to fast and sent it, I think. Now I can't find it in my sent messages. I read your message about clicking on the scroll, etc., and "save a copy of my message". But, I went the the "Members" area, sent it from there, I didn't know or see a "save a copy of my message" there, now I can't find if I sent her a message. Is there a way to tell if I sent her the message? If not, I will wait awhile and see if I get an answer. thanks again, I really enjoy all the stuff on this forum. Rocky

Rocky, to check to see if a message was successfully sent-- with the message panel open, check your outbox (on left hand side panel), if it was sent, it will be there.

I hope I answered your question in PM Rocky...  And I did replace the missing pictures in Ironwoods posts I hope they are explanatory enough.  I use this site daily and forget some of its nuances as I am so familiar with the navigating...  If I can help anyone to lear ho to navigate the site better please PM me...

Hello Smokey, thanks for the advice. I tried that though and it didn't help. I guess you have to check the save the message box every time when you want to keep it. I seem to forget to do that a lot. I will learn. I am enjoying this site, to bad there aren't many folks out here in NH that are into this. Where are you calling home?

Hey Smokey, Red Badger answered my question in pm, here is what he said:
If you go to your profile and select "Persona Message Options" on the left hand menu you will see a box about 1/3 down the page you can check "save a copy of each personal message..."
So I did it and it works. Rocky

...then afterwards, you can find them in your outbox.
