Title: Squirrel gun
Post by: pathfinder on February 02, 2009
This is my go to hunting gun. .50 smoothbore 42" swamped Getz barrel, Stock came from a branch that was blocking the road, and to get by I had to move it. I saw the curl in spot in trunk the branch came from and took the branch home and started to cut away all the stuff that didn't look like a gun and this is what I found. 90grs 3f and a .490 ball, pillow ticking, 60grs.3f,2 ox-yoke wads 1 and 1/2 measures of mixed shot,1 ox-yoke wad, good by tree rats!

Tree rats in MI are kind of small.  But I think he loads it with shot for them making it about a 32 gauge shotgun?

I do load shot in her fer tree rats. 60grs 3f wonder wad, measure and a half of mixed shot and another wonder wad. Does pretty good on 'em. From the charts i've seen and useing the ball per pound as gauge, it's @ a 38ga.
