Does any one know how to inlay wire into a horn for design? I would like to try using either a real thin gauge silver or copper not sure yet what design. Any ideas?
Jeco, cant say Ive ever seen wire inlay on a horn, seems to me that the material wouldnt expand and then contract around the wire like wood does on a stock, got any pics of any you've seen with wire inlay? would sure like to take a peek if you do.
I was wondering the same thing about wire inlays.
I've never seen a horn with wire. When I start and finish my first horn I will post the pics here. It may take me awhile cause I have no idea how to make one. I will have my father Bullfrog help me as much as he can.

Jeco
As you start contact Leathermonger ,TomHargrove and there are several more on this forum.
I'm sure they will help you with the horn project
I saw an article once in woodworking where they put in an inlay using dental amalgam (sp?) that dentists used to use for filling cavities. You know, the special mix of mercury and silver. They squeezed it into a slot and then sanded off later. Wonder if we have any dentists who make horns and would give an opinion?
My horn is almost done now I am starting to prep the horn for in laying the silver. I believe I have figured it out. I've been talking to jewelers, silver smiths, bullfrogs, lol I have pics on my phone showing each step. Will post soon
Well hurry up, I want to see this thing! ;D
I have some pics posted under powder horn. Will be posting more in a day or so of what it looks like withe the silver inlay.
