how about have a newbie shoot and the winner takes it!
How bout an old fashioned drawing. Put names in a hat and pick one .
both good ideas frank drawing idea is a thought gives everyone thmbsup a even chance so where do we go from here lets see what other suggestions show up strpot
I have one stipulation....you, Tom, must be happy with whoever gets it...there is no worse feeling then the feeling you get when you believe a gift is unappreciated, or worse yet, traded off or sold. Whoever gets this bag must realize that it is a gift of love and use it them self.
TG
Do all of our youngsters have a bag? I know Katie, who entered the esay contest got a Bobcat for Christmas, and doesn't have a bag yet.
I'm sure that there's more that don't.
My thoughts also RM . Have this for new shooters , be they little uns or biguns . Help someone new to the game .
A very good idea Tom, helping a new shooter get started.
Bekah is getting a new .45 Underhammer pretty soon as well......I liek the idea of a drawing for the younguns.
if you fellows are willing to help out on the drawing lets lay down some ground rules so to speak i would like to remain totally impartial as to the winner ma bey we could get all the names in a hat like frank said and let some child pull the name .i don't know but that is what Jerry did when he give away a knife.i think.

the knife winner still hasnt gotten it
The knife winner will get it...I have already guaranteed that to him.
Ned
Very nice gesture.I'm sure someone will be thrilled to have it.

that has nothing to do with this bag so don't bring something up that is irrelevant to this post please thmbsup
I have a dart board and a dart.
Have someone take the first 20 young/new shooters names and assign them a number and pm a copy of that list to three separate individuals, each with no stake in the drawing. Then let me know and I will throw the dart at the board (I think my son kin record that on his phone/camera...) I kin wear a blindfold if'n ya want, but it really don't matter. Whatever name is associated with the number the dart lands on wins the bag...
That's about as fair as ya kin git...
Good idear Riley thmbsup
I like it...but it's Tom's choice.
TG
i think it is an excellent idea total impartiality , that sound's good so now we need names frank can we start a list some how?
Tom open another topic and make it locked. Names can be submitted on this thread, and you can add them to that thread. Give a certain length of time for names to be added, like a week or so, then the list can be handled by you and taken care of in the way described above. Three folks with no stake draw a name at random and PM those names to Riley. Riley and the other three will know the names, but only Riley will know them all. Then he darts the lucky winner. That leaves all the others involved out of the process.
i just got a message from my good friend "leathermonger" he has offered one of his fantastic horns to go with the bag is this a great place or what makes me proud to know folks such as the members here thank you jim the addition will be gratefully appreciated.
I really don't want to know the names until after the dart sticks... If somebody else has a list with the names, I'm volunteering to throw the dart. So if Ned has a list of names... I'll throw, I'll say "Number X", Ned will say "That is so-and-so" and whoever else has a copy of the list can confirm...
Don't have ta be me or my dart, either... Just sayin I could.
That's the fairest way, I think...but we need to leave the final decision to Tom.
Ned
im all for it im excited that leather monger is also giving a one of his fine powder horns i think riley has a perfect idea .im all for it.
OK, there will be a thread in a few minutes for names that need to go on the list. I will make a list that we will update for one week, and then the picking process will begin. Next Friday the 16th of January will be the last day to nominate someone for the list. Picking will start on Saturday the 17th. Sound good?
Will there be special requirements as to who qualifies?

#1 should be a member of the board or relative of member
#2 should be a newbie just starting or young shooter
#3 should honestly need the offering
Sound good?
I think so. I wouldn't know what else to include.
i think that pretty well say,s it all ---- all agreed?
Agreed.

Mighty Mozilla says it's spelled right prty
I have used a system a few times in contests that guarantees fairness
There is no way to rig it its all based on luck and the stock market
You don't have to be a kid to get in on this....if you brand-new shooters don't have this gear, put yer name in.
I just read Rileys suggestion that will work too
That's what I get for reading the thread backwards ucrzy

Me 2 couch
i think i will keep my nose out of this one. rather some yungin get it srndr
Assign a number to each entrants name. Put the numbers in a hat or bowl. Shake 'em up and let a little kid reach in and get a number. That sounds about as easy and fair as anything.
OK here it is, nothing to get excited about, this is one of the first horns we built a few years ago and one of Uncle Dans first attempts at scratchn, been tucked away waiting for someone to give it to, I think this oppurtunity fits the bill for this horn, Ill send it to Tom monday am, LM
(http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x203/ladysmithtrading/Im002016.jpg)
it is very much so to get excited about ,it's a wonderful horn and ilove the shape of it and the work detail thanks for the willingness to help out , you have a good heart and know this will help some one to be well on there way in the hobby. dntn chrrs
Tom I totally agree with you. That is a beautiful horn. Anyone should be proud to own that one. Leathermonger here's a big ol' dntn for you!
Glad you guys are pleased with it, hope someone gets some service from it and enjoys it.
Heck I think its a great horn.
Well looking at the bag and horn I am almost ashamed to throw my little gift in
I should have it finished by Tuesday and will ship it to Tom to add to the prize package
This is my favorite shape blade and is scaled down for smaller hands. The blade is a discarded bandsaw from a local sawmill, the handle is bookmatched pecan with black ink lines in the sapwood, and 4 brass rivets. Unless requested to do otherwise the knife will be shipped ground and honed to a razor edge
Will update the picture after the epoxy sets up and the handle is shaped

Hey Bull, I would like to suggest the measure be on the small size if it's a young shooter. Or wait and see what the winner wants/needs.

Hey Bull leg bones of a doe are hollow as well and make good stuff
Hopefully I can get some hog bones in a couple weeks. I do know where there are a bunch of coyote carcasses. Think I'll get a couple skulls and clean up and some vertebrae. Maybe make a coyote jawbone knife if I can find a blank I like.
I might can find you a bobcat skull!
