If we go by time zones, Michigan is grouped with the east coast.  Best reenactments around go on all summer at Mackinaw Island and Fort Michlimackinaw in Mackinaw City.  Firing of cannon, muskets, rebuilt fort.  Fort Mackinaw on the island still has some of the original buildings standing. I never get tired of visiting for a few days.  Been doing it for more than 30 years.

Beowulf,
When I started this, I was living about 20 miles north of Altoona. Now I'm about 35 mi. south of Corning, New York. I lived for 15.5 years in southern York county in Shrewsbury,PA. so I do know where you're talking about. I never got out there but I did go to a lot of the York county rendezvous, only as a visitor though. I love to shoot the guns but I don't do the clothes or the living style.

its only a three or four day event , lot of guys do the modern camping thing , you do have to dress the part though ! not having a million bucks ( something I`d like to try at least once ) ROFL ,I went wearing a pair of sand colored jeans with the back pockets removed and the zipper removed and replaced with buttons . that and a linen shirt and a vest got me by ! did`nt put a lot of cash into the outfit !but then compared to one old feller I was just plain wastefull with my money ! all he wore was a breech cloth and mocs ! slept in a leanto made from an old white cotton tarp ! they have a lot of shooting events ,and several of the guys participating were day shooters , come in compete and then go home ! have`nt been to their shoot in a few years , kinda miss it !
