Title: Rifle making in the Great Smokey Mountains
Post by: doggoner on September 30, 2025
Here is an interesting read on rifle making in the Great Smoky Mountains put out by our very own government. Don't tell the purple hairs or they'll roll over and die.

That is much more detailed than what was in the old "Foxfire" books.

Thanks

I don't know... my foxfire series has the individual steps on making a rifle and how to construct the auger system for making rifled barrels... I know I will never have the time, or patience to create a barrel from a steel blank, but just knowing I have the knowledge to do it lets me sleep at night.

That was my family. They settled in TN around 1740-1760 and have been causing trouble ever since! They were the ones on high ground for the most part.

Thanks for the link.
