I went out in the shop this afternoon looking for my 1860 Colt 5.5" pattern for a holster I made some time back and actually found it . I got sidetracked for a couple hours after diciding to go ahead and get one made before I lost the pattern again :) Heres what I ended up with . Its still damp and I'll keep worrying it this evening for a bit then let it dry and oil it in a couple days. I'm a little out of practice but it will do .

Ned
I made the pattern a year ago and "put it up" , did to good of job too as it took awhile to find it :) Anyhoo its done now ! It's 10-12 oz. Wickett- Craig skirting leather left over from a saddle . They make good leather !
What kind of finish you plannin on?
Ned
I'm just going to put some olive oil on and let it darken on its own.
I've tried olive oil, but without much success. Finally went to neatsfoot oil and aint turned back yet. A lot more controlable to me.

Wow that turned out nice.
I think it has to be a brand thing . I lucked out on my choice I guess it looks the same as neatsfoot after it soaks in .
Thanks battman1 !

I kin do it bull ! Ned , dont think so but I'll look GOOOOOOD missin lol lol !!
Thats a fine job! Man now I wish I needed a holster for something LOL
Thank ya Roy ! I wish ya did to like a whole poke full and Id to some tradin with ya on some gun work lol !
That's a nice looking holster. Would you be willing to share the pattern?
Sure Doug , I'll scan it and put it in the pattern section. Now this is for the 5-1/2" model so you would have to add extra for the longer barrels which isnt a problem.
Thanks FrankG. I had a long barrel '51 navy and decided to cut it back to 5 1/2". When the metal filings all settled I had a 4 5/8" barrel so I will need to shorten it insted of lengthening it.
I put the pattern in pattern area.
