Shooting pistols beyond a few yards has always been my weakest skill set. The club I shoot at in Maine does have a couple of guys who shoot pistols at their matches. However, I've always avoided shooting my pistols in that venue for fear of embarrassing my self. With nothing much to do lately I took one of my single shot Kentucky pistols to my local range just to see if I could keep my shots on paper at 25 yards. Lo and behold after a few warm up shots I was able to hit an 8 inch bull off hand with a two handed grip. After figuring out sight adjustments and a couple other variables I was keeping most of my shots in the black. Now I think I just might be able to take it to a match without making a fool of my self. So fellow ML pistol shooters what are your tricks and tips for becoming a better pistol shooter?

Never "pull" the trigger, just squeeze. I seem to shoot better when it is a "surprise" while holding the sights on target.
Just like a flintlock, keep your aim point until all the smoke and noise clear away. I always hold the trigger down until I am ready to move the pistol.
Pull the triger with the tip of you finger.

I always use a trick that I learned from hotfxr so as to never embarrass myself. Mine is a single shot flintlock. I load and fire the first shot. The next four shots are with powder and wad only; no ball. So after 5 shots I can point to a very tiny group and puff out my chest. thmbsup

It does if you hunt really, really gullible deer.
Use a 2-hand hold and brace against a tree. The deer doesn't know you held it like a girl. That's confidential BTW. &)
