I have been searching for the best deal on a 15/16 x 36" barrel for a Leman trade rifle project I am collecting parts for and came across Jedediah Stars web site. Their barrel says it is 145.00. I could have them install the breach plug and still match others prices! But..they don't give any descriptions on maker, twist rate or breach threads. I am assuming it would be a green mountain because they basically copy and paste Pecatonica Rivers add. Does anyone here have experience with them or know who makes their barrel? Looking for some input
After searching a bit more I found that muzzleloader builder supply is actually a little less money when also buying plug and having it installed plus shipping noway to make the deal better I can get the Colerain barrel!
Sounds like a good choice to me.
I found my "best deal" on a barrel for my Leman project at the TVM shop this past weekend! Matt gave me such a good deal that I was able to get 2 old stock Richard Smith barrels. Both are 54 x 36" tapered barrels dntn . They look like 1 in 60+ twist rate, I'll have to test them with a tight patch to be sure what they are. From my research they are very good barrels.
Checked the twist this morning. My range rod made a 1/2 turn right at the 34" mark going through the barrel. So my best guess is a 1 in 68 twist.
Good deal and for a .54 1-68" sounds about perfect to me. My .54 is 1-66" and is accurate as all get-out! And I'm talking 3F charges form 60 grns to 110 grns.
IMHO you cannot beat Matt and the folks at TVM for being great folks to deal with and fair prices!

I fully agree! 5 of my guns are by Matt at TVM.
