Title: Replacement Vent Liner
Post by: Dogshirt on May 27, 2019, 11:48:08 PM
Do any of enlightened gents know what size of vent liner a Green Mountain barrel takes? I need to replace one before I put the rifle out on my sales rack.

Most of the vent liners I have seen are 5/16 X 24. When I had to replace one due to a previous owners miscalculation that buggered up the threads, Mongrel walked me through using a 3/8" bolt to make a new one. It's still working.

I take it since you are selling a flintlock that your fences are all hog tight?

Not sure if this helps, but my .40 GM barrel accepts the same liner as the Rice and Colerain barrels I have.  I'd suspect hotfxr's suggestion ought to work.

I would try a 1/4 X28,I know that's what my T/C Hawken uses and from my understanding many of the American made barrels. When I had my touchhole w/no liner flint lock drilled to have the Muzzleloader shop put in a liner so that I would buy the firestick, that's the size they used.

You could call Track of the Wolf...They have helped me several times on old cap and ball sixguns on nipple size.

I would take the barrel down to your hardware store or Lowe's and try to see what size bolt will fit.  Just don't bring in the whole rifle or you will have pnic  They may make you buy the bolt but for 25 cents you would know what you need!
