I started this build last November but due to my wife's third retina surgery, holidays, a unheated shop and a knee injury, I was not able get much done on this one the past four months. Although the weather has been all over the place I've managed to make some good progress the past couple of weeks. It is beginning to look like a rifle. Started with a Cherry blank, the lock is a Chambers Late Ketland, Davis #4 set triggers, 36 inch .50 cal. tapered octagon barrel, and a pewter nose-cap and a swivel patch box lid. Still working on some stock carving, and still have all the metal and wood finishing/ageing to do before #20 is in the books
That's going to be a beauty when it's finished.
thmbsup Looking awesome already brother..I love it
As always, a fantastic job Woody! thmbsup
Looks like the only thing you could do to make it better would be to put the lock on the other side.

Just for you and the guys on the other side....(will flip'n the photo work?) ROFL
I think it's a dang handsome rifle. Great job, of course; it could not be otherwise. The only thing that would make it better would be to send it into my hot, little hands. AHEM!

Thanks Hanshi, I'm planing on ding it up a little adding a few beauty marks and aging it to give it that well used but not abused look.....just have to see if I still have the heart to do it ??? ROFL
I finally got started on some carving. Still a lot to do but I can't get in a rush.
Got it done.
couple of details, carving and swivel box lid.
Very nice. Since our "great" leader is busy, you can just send it to me for test firing. I'll return it as soon as i'm done with it.
Really like that patch box.
chrrs Have to say it again, BYU-TEE-FULL! Ahem! I'd be happy to put those "dings" and "age marks" on that baby, er, build. hntr

Thanks Hanshi. Next I plan on remodeling my shop by adding at least one interior wall and door so I can heat & cool it for year round use. pnic
Woody, it was worth waiting for. thmbsup
Very nice
Woody,
#20 is a fine looking specimen! If Bulldog lady had not threatened me with the big D if I even think about purchasing another custom flinter I would be talking to you about building one for me....

Thank you......I wouldn't want to be responsible for a big D ! pnic...but your safe with me, I don't take custom orders, I just like building what I want and sometimes I may sell one I've built if their interested in one I have built. ;D
Interesting patch box. What keeps it closed? I can see it getting bumped in the woods and losing what is in it.... :o

It is a small (see area circled on lid) flat spring that snaps into the recess circled on the butt stock, same as on a sliding patch box lid. Sorry for the poor photo I had to enlarge the one posted. Sent the rifle to Friendship for sale next weekend.
Makes sense, thank ye kindly! dntn
