Had a buddy one time who insisted on wearing work boots with no socks.... One time mom and dad invited him over for dinner during the holidays....they asked him to take his boots off...what followed was the ABSOLUTE worst smell ever!!!!!!! :-&

Or it could be the fact that you built an outhouse in a residential neighborhood. At least you could have put it in the backyard instead of by the front porch! hdslp

That way no one has to disturb him by knocking on the door asking to use the restroom. [hmm]
Plus! Y'a gotta have SOMEWHERE to go! I stopped using a latrine years ago. :applause: strpot
I have read all the comments here, and I wonder? Hanshi, you stated that you smelled something, and after all the posts, could it be, assuming your age, could it be that you did not make it the the bathroom, quick enough??? :qz: pnic hdslp
All the same, we still grphg
Several year ago we went to a Sam's Club, and as we approached the cheese section, I smelled FEET. Turns out it was fresh cut Romano Cheese. Delicious on spaghetti and other pasta dishes. But a bit fragrant to the nose.
"This has to be the disease for you
Now scientists call this disease
Bromidrosis
But us regular folks
Who might wear tennis shoes
Or an occasional python boot
Know this exquisite little inconvenience
By the name of:
STINK FOOT
Y'know, my python boot is too tight
I couldn't get it off last night
A week went by, an' now it's July
I finally got it off
An' my girl-friend cry
"You got STINK FOOT!
STINK FOOT, darlin'
Your STINK FOOT puts a hurt on my nose!
STINK FOOT! STINK FOOT! I ain't lyin',
Can you rinse it off, d'you suppose?"
Except from Frank Zappa's "Stink Foot"
rdfce Well, sometimes I do have to run toward my outhouse but I still think what I detect is, heaven help me, "decomp". So sad. srndr

So I am thinking (I know, never a good thing for me) that your reference is a little outside the scope of most folks. The "decomp" analogy alluding to this forum dying on the vine, (Hey, I live in wine country) so to speak, might be a tad vague. We need to come up with a way for people to connect the dots without telling them flat out that there needs to be more posting. Lets cogitate on that for a while and see what we can come up with. dntn
hopefully February 16,17 18 & 19, the weather will be in the 40's, I have off from work and plan to do some shooting. Then I should have something to post. Getting to the point that I can not polish the rifles much more. Been a while since I shot the Great Plains rifle, so that is one that will be shot. Along with the Cabelas re-barrelled 50 and the Mike Lange 58 May also shoot the Ruger Old Army, since it has been loaded for almost a year. Figured it would make a good household security revolver. If the roundball doesn't get them then the muzzle flash will and the smoke will lay down cover for me.
The weather was so nice today (45 degreesin Denver) that I spent the hour driving up to my range and shot my club's postal target (I think its the same as the NMLRA postal target.) and scored the best I've done for a couple of years, then played around with an old 20 guage single shot shotgun that I got from my father in law back when he was still alive and living at home.
All in all a nice afternoon. ;D

Agreed! That sounds like a great afternoon. I am jealous.
we have over 300 members , and a core of about 12 or so who post on an at least semi regular basis , so ! where is everyone else ? come one people , belly up to the bar and shoot the breeze ! ya`ll have too at least be interested in muzzle loading , so what guns do you use , are you a skinner , or just a casual shooter , are you in to re enactment , do you wear modern or primitive clothes while hunting , post pics of your guns , tomahawks, knives , bags and horns , ask questions , tell tall tales , but do something . help clear out the "that smell " !

[hmm] Good idea. Maybe try to get more shooters involved in postal shoots - need to start planning these things - or at least have them respond to the "question" posts about guns, loads, etc.
Beowulf is spot on with his statement on the large number of members and the small number that represents those who DO post. Seems to me that if one is interested enough to join, he/she should be interested enough to post. Whatcha think? hntr

Well said. I know that if the posting had been this parsimonious when I first joined, I would have likely moved on to other sites and wouldn't have reaped the benefits of the combined knowledge that the members here were (and still are) so willing to share. I also wouldn't have become the self proclaimed black powder genius of the west coast that I have humbly become.
I'm a hunter. I got into muzzleloading on my own to take advantage of muzzleloading deer seasons. It seems no one else on here is a hunter since I never see a post about it or a picture of a deer. Punching holes in paper doesn't interest me.
I don't post much because a lot of the topics aren't relevant to my interests. I will NOT post just to be posting and as stubborn as I am, the best way to keep me from posting is to nag about it.
Sadly, this seems to be the way of the Internet now. There are several sites I am the only one posting on; I was told it is because folks are over on Facebook. I have never been on Facebook and see no sense to it, but then I am the only one trying to keep some of these sites going. Even the site's owner hasn't posted on one of them for over a year. Shoot, I haven't even seen Hanshi over there! Sad... :'(

facebook is a love/hate sorta think , I go both ways on it ! ROFL but , there are several re enactment pages , as well as muzzleloading in general , lots of photos being posted and questions asked , as well as advice being given , some worth it`s weight in gold and some that is pure fertilizer ! it could be better , but it is what it is .
TMotC is one of the very first forums I joined; There is one, IIRC, that may be the first. I suspect we'll be here for a long time to come, however. Winter Hawk, I'll be happy to keep nagging, had good role models, ya' know, and maybe keep it from becoming too quiet. strpot whipping :mini-devil-28492:

Squirrels and rocks. About all the wild hunting I've been able to do here... Muzzle loading hunts are by draw only and in the last 10yrs I haven't gotten a tag.... Moving to Idaho should change that for me... Hope I can get there.

I think it means singing in harmony while cooking Italian food or maybe pruning to close to the branch. Not totally sure but someone said it about my capacity for intelligent thought so I am pretty sure it means something good. :applause:

skrt parsimonious ? aint that those things possums love top eat in the fall ? skrt skrt skrt or was that persimmons skrt ?
It's both....just try eating a green one....like sucking on an alum stick. Pucker you right up. Who would let the possums get to them, grab a spoon and scoop that tasty slimy stuff out and eat it yourself.
Doug
If you get an early freeze, they sweeten up more and are delicious except for the big seeds.
A wind storm broke down some of the fruit-covered branches on our lease one year. The persimmons all fermented and started to dry. Deer, coons, and possums hung around the trees until they ate them all. I saw a coon walking wobbly near one of the trees.
I managed to set up a stand and kill a nice doe with my bow. She was headed right to the busted trees.
they make a pretty decent wine as well ! thmbsup
