Title: Traditional looking adjustable rear sight
Post by: Tim Ault on October 09, 2017, 10:39:26 PM
Anyone have any ideas on a adj. rear site that wouldn't look too too odd on a southern type rifle ? I'm sighted in at 50 yd with my target load for woods walking 40gr 3F  when I switch over to my hunting load of 75 gr it shoots abouts 5-6" high at the same range . This is a 40" barrelled 50 cal Dixie mtn rifle . Yea I can put a taller front (.350) now but then I'll be shooting low with the target load  cant really go lower on the rear as it's only .220 high now  really like to have a simple plain adjustable on it something like on the express rifles dual leaf set up ,does something like that already exist for a reasonable price ?

Thanks ,Tim

"Cheap" is not in the express rifles' dual/triple leaf dictionary.

Tim
My great plains rifle came with an adjustable rear site, some of the strictly traditional people that I could use the site as long as I did not make adjustments on the firring line so I shot the hunting load. No one said any thing after that. Just one mans experience

I think I found a solution that wouldn't look to outa place with a little file work , It's a dual leaf jaeger sight  and track of da wolf has them !! Ain't the internet great ......

the sight that link took me to says it is "out of stock". ya might also consider their long leaf hawken adjustable rear sight.

Pedersoli also makes a 3 leaf English express sight. Only problem is that "reasonable" doesn't exist in their vocabulary.

Dang your right ! I did find a few other types like it thought on other muzzleloader supply sites .  Yes I had seen the long hawked sights , the part I didn't like about them is there so big (length) and no real way to make them smaller.
