Title: Cold round trip, still no shooting.
Post by: hotfxr on March 11, 2017
I tried to get up and shoot Feb 12th at our local monthly shoot, but it was not in the stars that day. Picture this, most of the flood waters had receded and the slide blocking the road to the range was cleared. It is 75 miles to the range from my house and about 1/4 to 1/3 of that is back roads so it takes me at best an hour to get there. This day since the sun was shining (although it didn't get above 52 degrees all day) that pesky voice in my head convinced my to make the trip on a purple Electraglide. So with the Hatfield in a sock and fitted with a proper PC sling, I strapped it across my back and headed up. I wound up getting detoured a bit due to some water that had not receded enough and as a result was about 20 minutes late getting to the range. Apparently not enough people had showed up so they cancelled the shoot. For me that meant turning around and heading home, freezing my hind end off. I didn't get to shoot it but in my two gas stops and every couple of miles I got some of the strangest looks. I don't know what they were looking at, just an average biker in black leather, riding a Concorde purple Harley dresser, cruising down a California freeway with a 5' foot flintlock strapped to his back, just another day for me.  The monthly shoot is this weekend and it doesn't look like rain so I will try it again and if all goes well, I will have a range report next week

Good luck for next week end.  Looks like we will be getting a range in my area, with all weather roads right up to the firing line. Should know some thing for sure by the  middle of next month.

I've been trying to get out, But with the wind 35 with gust of 70 mph, and the grass fires 23,00 acres.
They closed the area to all shooting. O well will try again next week.

I hope you make it this time.  That is a long way to have to drive to shoot.  Good luck.
