Nice looking blade! thmbsup
Nice looking Damascus blade. Along with the antler handle, it's a gem.
that blades a good 10 inch`s long ! never did make a decent sheath for it ! handle is red stag ,and guard and ferrule were made from old metal scraps that were in my junk bin !

I took it to a few rondys back when it was new , had it on the trade blanket for sale . asking price was $200 , which was not a bad price . had several folk look it over , and all said the same thing , "nice work , well made , " got a lot of compliments on it . but no sell ! then a silver smith who specialized it fancy buttons and brooch`s said something interesting . picked it up , examined it end to end , looked at me and said , " everyone likes it , but no one wants to buy it ?" I shook my head and said yep ! then he said , "well this will sound odd , but , the reason it`s not selling is it`s a piece that you could leave on a tavern table in 1770 , and no one would notice anything odd about it , it would fit right in . now , take a look around at what most of the skinners are carrying , they dont want period correct knives ,they want jewelery ! " " most of the stuff you see is either very large bowies , or arkansas toothpicks , not what the average frontiersman or soldier would have carried "! have`nt been to a rondy in years . from what I`ve seen in muzzleloader magazine , and on the muzzleloading sites I`m a member on that seems to have changed a bit ! seems to lean more towards period correct than the hollywood image ! ....course I could be wrong ROFL any opinions on this ? was he right ?
Beowulf
I would have to agree with what the man said. From my experience most of the folks seem to think that bigger is better. They do not take into account carrying those thing day in and day out, gets to be a pain in the back side.
In Nam I carried a large bowie in stead of a machete, because the weight was about the same, just not as big a hassle to get through the jungle. I still got the dam thing some where.

That knife sure looks fancy enough for me. Would you put pin-striping and spinner hubcaps on a Ferrari? I wouldn't!

I`d say it`s more of an old ford ltd , nothing fancy , but it`ll get the job done ! ;D
I concur with your appraisal, beowulf; very nice. dntn
