Title: Making Eastern Woodland Mocs..
Post by: Ouchigan on October 12, 2016, 11:11:38 PM
I'm having a couple issues sewing my mocs.. I've broken 2 glovers needles -n- 2 curved needles...What am I doing wrong? Should I use an awl to premake holes? What have ya'll done to make this easier?

How heavy is the material you are using? If you are using rawhide you will have pre-punch the holes or wet the rawhide. Hope this helps

They ain't the prettiest but considering that they are the 1st pair I have ever made. They are the most comfortable things I have ever worn.Other than at work where I have to wear steel toes I don't think I'll be wearing "normal" shoes again.

Do you have any type of liner or insole in the bottom of those fine looking mocs?

No liner or insert.. ..Did size them for wearing wool socks. I have worn them every where since getting them done. Really enjoy the way they feel, but I'm used to being bare foot more often than not.  wore them in the back yard -n- tromped across the hordes of walnut shells to see what it was like.....didn't even notice ....next week will be the real test when I hunt in them

Be careful. If the vegetation is damp they can get slick and you loose your footing. been there
