I see all the traditional shooters going with the more correct sty OK e touqe these days, can anyone shed light on when the style with the tassle worn folded to the side came about? Is this a historicly correct hat or is it a more modern buckskinner thing? I find them very comfoftable to wear
I can not find my info to be sure, but I believe they were worn by the French Voyager's . So time wise they are correct. but some clubs and
organizations require location correct dress. So if you are in the South West they may not be accessible.

I know the french voyagers wore the knitted touqe , what I am wondering is, the ones muzzleloaders , buckskinners have been wearing for years . The type that is worn folded over and has a tassle on it. Think Mike Nesbit who writes for muzzleloader magazine
must read the description of each hat for the period correctness or not pc

Find a hat that you like. If the PC Nazis get on your case, hang their scalp on your lodge poles. The damn thread counters just suck ALL the fun out of this! I will post more on the PC vampires in awhile.
And we (Maggie and I) are back from a FABULOUS vacation to Glacier National Park. I will have pictures to post in the next day or so.
the liberty cap is pc ! as long as it is made from the proper materials and and in a color used at the time ! those blaze orange devils in man made material dont count ! ROFL
I have both, been in the hobby for about 30 years. Just thought Id ask I really don't care about HC,but I like to keep in the spirit, Don't go in for things too hokey, but if I can get a pair of fringed buckskin pants made from goat hide cheaper I don't care.I'll wear a cotton calico shirt even if it does have three (GASP!) colors
