This past winter thar weren't much snow up on the ol high lonesome, so I decided to go do a little ice fishin. Ol Max thinks I need supervision.n, sa he came along. I took the canoe alone as the ice weren't to thick, bout four inches. I put ma auger in the ol canoe, fishing gear and a can o whole curnel corn. A pillar fer ma best bud to curl up on and off we went. I slid the canoe out on the ice and dug a few holes, dumped corn down em to get the guys under the ice to a comin over to check us out. The lake wuz clear out in the middle, a little breeze wuz ablowin, but wuz warm anyway. Now and then the ripples would cause the ice to crack and one would run from out in d middle to shore, and one side of the crack would be half an inch higher than the other. Well Ol Max and I wuz a doing great, had my limit in the snow bank by the truck and lacked one fer ma limit the second time. We was there all alone, but then this dern game warden pulls up and hops out. Hey you, come on over ta shore so ah kin check yer license. No way man, ya want to see it come on out here. fishin to good to waste time comin to y'all. This ol game warden wuz a young pup fresh outa school, an not much fer brains. Well, he starts out to where ol Max an I wuz a fishing when a nice bang and a crack goes ta shore, right between his legs. He looks down at thet crack, an that done her, he turned and ran for shore. When arrived safely there, he waves and says, Have a nice day, hops in his truck and leaves in a cloud a dust. II looked at ol Max and he yawns and puts his head down and goes back to sleep. I caught my limit da second time and loaded up and went back to ma truck, dug the fish outn da bank and we headed home.
