For those who don't believe you can really start fires with flint & steel, here is proof positive. I am posting these pictures for Flintboomer at his request. This is him making fire at during the mountain man run Memorial day weekend, Florence Colorado

Some of us have the skill sets (I am not saying me, mind you) to get the job done. Thanks to Flintboomer for sharing. Although I must observe that I don't think that wrist watch is truly historically correct.
Shouldn't it be a wrist hour glass??
Nice Flintboomer!! thmbsup
At some events when something gets overlooked by a reenactor Watch cellphone etc.. they ask If that is Witchcraft you have on??!! or just say Witchcraft Witchcraft!!!!
I learned this the hard way.. someone dropped their cellphone in front of my camp, so I was taking it to the First aid station (also the Lost and found Area)
The other Reenactor's started saying "Witchcraft Witchcraft!!!! " hdslp pnic pnic Lucky for me They were all Smiling ROFL ROFL thmbsup

I don't think the watch or the glasses are correct, but we aren't very picky about such things since it isn't a reenactment of anything, just a shoot and rondevous.
I came in second.

I think you did fine! Don't let those ne'er-do-well's give you a hard time because your watch isn't PC; we all know that Timex didn't come out with their first model until the Civil War. &)
[hmm] Y'all do know that I was joking about the watch, did you not? I am the last person in this world to rip anyone for being non-PC or anything like that. It's just my natural twisted sense of humor that will not let me pass up on things like that. hdslp
I am however impressed with the firemaking skills displayed here. Since I vacillate madly between being able to get a spark and not using the flint & steel, I wind up passing on the fire making competitions just to keep from embarrassing myself. Good job there Flintboomer, next time you are in our area on a cold night, you are most welcome in our camp!
Yes, we all know you (and I) are joking. I also know how hard it is to make fire from flint and steel and at least with the guys around here, I know it's a lost cause to try and compete with them in a fire starting competition. One guy did it in 3 seconds!
At least the time machine didn't lose my watch or ruin it! blah blah blah
