Title: Sonoma Valley Muzzleloaders
Post by: hotfxr on April 10, 2016, 06:09:13 PM
This coming weekend is the 36th annual SVM Rendezvous out in the thriving metropolis of Yorkville, CA, population 153. Not having anything to compere it to, this is a great event. Located on a working sheep ranch the shooting (Hawks, knives, rifles) walk follows a creek with about 30 stations to test your skill. There is a separate pistol walk up along a nearby ridge. They have a primitive camp area along with a "tin can" camping area off in the distance, usually several traders and always a whole lot of friendly folk to help you out and answer questions. It runs from Thursday through Sunday and from what I hear, a good time is had by all. This event happens to be only 35 miles from me and this year I might even be able to head out for a day. The costs are more than reasonable with civilians free of charge and day guests more than welcome. I will try to actually make it out there this year and take some pictures, if for nothing else, to show that we Californians can actually do some things right.

Went out to the 'Randy yesterday to check it out. Absolutely beautiful day, no wind, cool temps, blue sky. Yeah, me and 4 other shooters. even with the pathetic attitude of folks in this state, I expected more. We got there at 10 AM and left about 12:30 to go off to a ranch across the road to shoot the cannon. Hopefully more folks showed up to day and will show up tomorrow.

My bud that  owns the ranch near here volunteered to drive us out here.

The two trader's tents with another that only had a table out behind them.

He shoots, he scores.

I was literally the only person on the trail. The other four were up on the hill at the pistol trail. Fun, but it would be more fun with a few more shooters around. I did surprise my self though. I shot 15 of the 20 stations and only missed one target. For me that is unheard of.

At least I did get the 12 year old down the road to fix the date on my camera for me.  ROFL
