I know all about that being weathered in stuff. Why last week it actually rained a couple of days and we had 4 nights in a row where it got down as low as 28 degrees. Yeah this winter is getting rough, have to wear a jacket during the day, it's a good thing I am as tough as I am. I do believe it would kill a lessor man, say like folks who live in Oklahoma?

Yeah, we're having our 1st cold snap of the year (since last Feb.). It got down in the low 40s last night. I've had enough!
I have both volumes of "The American Fur Trade in the Far West". If these sound interesting I would be willing to lend them.
They are a bit dry at times, but very informative. As a side note, the cover art was painted by John Clymer, an artist from my home town here in Washington. He did a lot of fur trade art, and we have a museum for him here.
Here are two links to Amazon so you can read a bit about them.

Hi Beowulf
I almost hate to tell you, but down here in the desert it's perfect camping weather, 86 degrees at the moment. Been out in the desert exploring and shooting my smoke poles. It's tough, but I have to do it Just wanted to let ya know, it ain't bad everywhere. 'SNTY"

May not be bad now, BUT give it 5 months. Will be hot enough to cause Hell on earth, while we here in the NE are enjoying weather in the upper 80's.
Up here in Maine we are having a warm winter, most of you probably would hate it. You get used to the cold, you can always put more clothes on, if you take off too many due to the heat they arrest you! ;D

One of the reason's I'm not allowed in Arizona anymore. ROFL
It's hot here. Yesterday was in the low 80's.
All the tornadoes this morning were caused from this hot air colliding with a cold front. We didn't get any here, TG.
mtnmike, do you have things you can make yourself to add to your kit? I have made a lot of items I've needed while at the cabin. It's just a thought, bought a powderhorn kit, a knife kit, possibles bag, ball bag, antler powder measurers, stuff like that, fun, and it passes the time to. wtch chrrs
