Title: I meant to do this, really.
Post by: hotfxr on January 24, 2015
So it's Saturday morning, 48 degrees, blue skies, still no rain. I'm stuck at home waiting for some low VOC, water based, carbon tax paid, dam er. darn near useless, urethane to dry on a dresser that I repaired for a client. Cursing nonstop since I started three days ago when the old finishes decided they would not play along with the new finishes and a 3 hour job has turned into a 20 hour job that could have been avoided if only the gubmint would stay out of our way and quit passing daily redundant laws to eliminate any product in CA that actually works. But I digress. Not one to be deterred from having a bit of fun whenever possible, I am making good use of the down time by practicing throwing some knives and experimenting with some different configurations. Of course when "She who must be obeyed" returns home I'm sure she will have a slightly different opinion of effectual use of my time. So anyway, as anyone who like me is not exactly the most adroit knife thrower knows, you get a lot of interesting reactions from knives as they ricochet off the rounds, most of the time coming right back at you at a faster speed than when you threw it. This one was almost like I meant to do it this way.

I just wish there was someone around so I could tell them; Yup! That's what I was trying to do. Really. Honest. Would I lie to you?

I am surprised that I have not gotten any "advice & feedback" from anyone over this. Does this mean that members are getting on in years and going soft? Or is it that the only "real men" have moved to California and the rest are just too afraid to admit it?  blah   ROFL   ROFL

it is out of Sympathy for you lost souls.  We all know that California  will break off and slide into the ocean and  Western Nevada and Arizona will become coastal  states.

It does not make you weak to admit it, I understand that most men live in fear and awe of those of us who can survive out here. (And when I say "you" I do not include anyone that I have armed with an edged weapon. Hey, I know I am tougher than most men, but I'm not totally stupid.) Besides. if our drought continues, we may have to invade those two Northern states that get all the rain and take what we need, so we really have to step it up out here and stay the meanest & the toughest. You saw Dogshirt's picture, he looks like a force to be reckoned with. Of course the easy way to take out Dogshirt is to swap out his percussion capped rifles for flinters in the middle of the night. Then instead of defending himself he will be working like a tasmanian devil tightening fences until he drops.  ROFL   ROFL

what picture of Dogshirt.   wtch    last picture of Dogshirt,  it appeared he was trying to smuggle something.   ROFL

But then YOUR last  picture suggests you might be  on the same program,  mountain men were thin.

Take a 1/2 pace back--or forward and see if the pointy end sticks this time.  Thats how we do it in the "Great wet Northwest"  and no you aren't getting our water,  Fish do you know what in it--so you don't need it....Besides it rusts steel......Tom

That's the first time I have done that, and of course I was messing around. I threw that pointy thing from about thirty feet, holding onto the blade. I didn't even think I was going to hit the wood, let alone stick. So when it stuck itself by it's hiney, I was wishing there was a witness so I could tell him that's the way we do it out here. Alas it was just me and the birds and as you know, birds lie anyway so you don't want to listen to them.
