You have some beautiful horns Jim...which would be the one you'd keep if you could have only one?
Ned
Very nice, Jim! :o

I also have a few bags, but these are the two I use. One for flint and one for percussion. The one set, as you can see, I made in 1964, is the only bag and horn I've made. We got a lot of miles together.

Looks fine to me Ray, well done thmbsup
Ray,
Good looking horn! thmbsup For your next one, try some carving on it. One thing I've found with horns is that they usually have plenty of material to carve on, even ones that seem a bit on the thin side. You could take a horn like that one and carve some nice flats and rings on the throat. You better watch out though, horn making can get addictive... ;D
Scott
Thanks for the kind words and encouragement fellas...
Oh yeah.. I intend to try some carving, and... scrimshaw..

Yep, addictive, comes from snorting all that horn dust! ROFL ROFL ROFL
Darn! I wonder what caused it... ROFL
Scott
My first one in progress. Haven't decided what additional carving to put on it. Still have to make the strap as well.

Those are some sweet horns! dntn
Ned
Nice ones Stumblin Wolf! I like the wild boar you have on that one. thmbsup
Scott
Here is a horn that was built for me by the awesomely talented Stumblin Wolf! He engraved it with a map of my grandfather's farm and symbols and verses that have particularly sentimental meaning to me. I cannot recommend this man enough, he is a master!

Nicley executed wolf! very well done! dntn
WOW !!!
That is AWE-SOME !!! :o :o
this is the only one i own and since i don't own a muzzleloader i cut the spout a little larger to carry pellets for my hunting pellet rifle. The stopper is a eye tooth from a dead seal i found on the beach. I have friends that shoot blackpowder and they laughed their butts off when they found out i made a pellet horn.
Here is a nice little primer I put together a few yrs ago. Used a piece of glass to shave her down from rough to finish. I enjoy making these things. chrrs
Here's a few more to look over.

Stumblin Wolf you have a very nice gift !
Here's one of mine featured over on the Contemporary Makers blog. This one is the third one I have built and is my personal horn used with my southern rig.

My carry horn, made & scrimmed myself. says: "Lord lead me not into temptation, but if you must, make my aim be true" Scotch thisle for my heritage "Celt"...Tom
My scottish roots are all a tingle. Would love to have a horn like that... ;)
third horn I ever made , and first horn I tried to do a little scrimshaw on . wish I`d kept the first one , it was red and white with cream colored bands , did a nice carving job on the spout end ! but , this here`s the one I kept for myself ! you`ll notice it resembles a cureton , that`s because being a cheap bugger I copied it instead of buying one ! been using this horn since 1985 !
just making simple but functional horns these dayze, but have it on my bucket list to learn how to do some decent scrimshaw.
