Oregon barrel co.  Part of www.thegunworks.com in springfield, Or.  541-741-4118  Usually not to long a wait & priced reasonable.  I just received a 12" .40 cal. pistol bbl. 7/8" oct. 67.50 plus S.H.   Been using them for couple decades.   Also muzzleloaders supply has some as well....Tom

Well thanks to Papa I got the barrel taken care of but now I need to find a preshaped Kentucky styled pistol stock that is only inletted for the the ramrod since the barrel isn't one of the cookie cutter ones I'll have to inlet that myself, no biggie just take me longer but I've emailed Pecatonica but haven't heard back from them, didn't see what I wanted on track or any of the other sites I have saved, anyone got any suggestions on a shaped stock that will handle a 1" barrel and I'd prefer Curly maple, just cause thats what I like! Thanks

get a block of maple/walnut & drill it yourself,  if your going to make the rest of it, rod groove/hole is just part of it..Tom

That would be a great ideal crept my 3/8s drill bit is a only about 3" long so don't think that's gonna work for me. Thanks though!

Well you can get long drill bits at hardware or home depot-- lowes 12" to 18" not tooo expensive.  1/4" up to 1/2" or so.

Long enough to reach that far? Guess I've just never noticed them, the ram rod drills I've seen look like bits welded on rods in the pictures, is that what you use just one of the long bits from like lowes or Home Depot ?

For pistols yes mines from ACE hardware,  You've got a 8" barrel right--not a problem. rifles I have one of tracks 48" bit.  Do you have a good builders book ? if not better get one....Lots of info in one that'll save you a bunch of misery...Tom

Thanks, I've got Mike brooks file, one of Shumways building books an the gunsmiths of Greenville all of which I've read through numerous times an have used, this will be the third pistol I've built, so I'm a novice by any standard but i'm comfortable diving in also.
