I got the stock blank from mongrel, he inlet the octagon section and the round section to the smallest diameter at the muzzle which left me to inlet the octagon to round junction and inlet the taper from there to the muzzle on the round section. I also had him do the ramrod channel to save some time. I'm doing all the other stuff myself I just inlet the internal lock parts this afternoon.
That'll be a nice gun.
O BOY!!! Another build to watch! I'm sitting on the front row with Hanshi & CampbellClan because it looks like they are bringing the wtch and the chrrs. I told you that this gunbuilding was "addictive"!!!!
wtch chrrs We'll try to bring enough for everybody, too.
It looks like it's going to be another beauty. And I haven't touched either if the two 1780's flinters I am supposedly working on for over two months. I'll be watching this one for ideas. wtch
I was able to slip out in the shop long enough to get the ramrod pipes installed last evening. I plan on rearranging the shop the next few days but I hope to get it ready for shaping soon. BTW, it's build #8 not 7 hdslp ....guess I had one of those Senior Moments...or it could have been my fat fingers! ROFL
I've been rearranging and cleaning up the winter build up in the shop for the last few days but I got back on my build today. Got the butt plate attached, made and dovetailed the under lugs for pinning the barrel, forged the trigger, and started making the trigger plate and parts.
Mighty nice work woody, mighty nice...Tom
Very nice work, indeed.
Looking real good Woody!!!! Would like to see that trigger assm. when you get it together. wtch

Like I said earlier, I had Mongrel do the basic barrel and ramrod channel inletting on this one when I bought the blank from him in order to save some time. He inlet the octagon section and the round section to the smallest diameter at the muzzle which left me to inlet the octagon to round junction and inlet the taper from there to the muzzle on the round section. I can do it by hand but I want to get a router system set up if I build many more of these. ;D
Got the trigger assembly inlet, tang screw installed, lock installed, and the barrel pinned. As soon as I get the trigger guard done it will be time to start shaping the stock.
That trigger assm looks great Woody! I think I'm going to start making my on as soon as I figure out what style I want to do. You are coming along fast on this build and it's looking real good. Looking forward to see more post as you progress along. wtch
Trigger guard in place ...(sorry for the poor photo, (ipad has no flash), let the shaping begin !
Well things have been keeping me to busy to work on this project for some time now but I've got everything in place and started the rough rasping to shape. At least it's finally starting to look more like a stock than a plank! :o
thmbsup Keep us well updated.
Number 8 is coming along slowly but surely. It's shaped and ready for sanding and stain. Here it is with # 7.
LOOKING GREAT FRED!!!!!! That mineral stain looks kinda cool! I am interested to see the finished product....See ya soon!
Getting closer. I still have to make a side plate and get it installed, then she se ready for the finish sanding, stain and finish. Like I said before...I'm slow but at least I moving forward. ROFL
Shaping up nicely...keep up the great posts...
Doug.
WOW!!!! Woody I bet that trigger guard made you say some words you weren't use to saying ROFL I have one of those trigger guards and I think I'm going to sell it. You have done an excellent job on this folwer and I can't wait to see the stain on her. dntn

Well....let's just say ....it's going to be quite some time before I use one of those x%@XX again! That acorn design looks like a possible choice unless I make my own. ROFL
I did get the side plate made today and will hopefully get it stained and the first coat of blo on her. :applause:
Well it's 99.9% finished. I will do a little more aging after the stock cures a few days longer, but it's time to take a break for awhile. :o
Very nice - When does it come this way for proofing :mini-devil-28492:
