Title: Red Badger should be nervous
Post by: hotfxr on March 14, 2014, 06:24:35 PM
In preparation for an upcoming matter of honor with Red Badger, I was inventorying my hawks and decided to share.

This is the gang. The two in the upper left are the ones I made Ipe handles on and are 5160 hand forged cutting fools. They hold an edge forever. The rest are from hatchetsandaxes.com and were considerably more affordable.

This is just to show the different sizes. The bottom two are the standard and the mini.

Before.

After. I have a complete and total inability to leave anything I touch the way I found it. For some reason I have to modify everything (with the one exception of my Mongrel Masterpiece, I haven't even taken it apart yet.) All hawks, spears, and wood handled knives eventually go through the stain, wrap, and seal with beeswax treatment.

Even the 1700's camp tomahawk I got from Beowulf (sorry man, I could not help myself) got a wrap job.

With these hanging by the shop door, it is easy for me to talk people into trying them out. Got my left wing liberal, green business MBA, trumpet playing, vegan soon-to-be son in law (next month) out there tossing hawks and now he wants one. I even got the two Jehovah Witnesses who caught me at home last weekend to put down their Watchtowers and spend a bit of time sticking blades into wood. If I was having any more fun with all this (TMOTC) stuff, I would have to hire someone to help me.
