I've meet John through a hunting forum and hunted with him. He a Big man and has a great heart. I hate to see this happen to a great guy. But he is at peace and soon will be in His Hands. A note he wrote on a long time forum.
Thanks and God Bless
Well, I did not have the a "good" Christmas, I'm sorry to say. I got a call on Christmas day from my doctor informing me that I have Acute Leukemia (cancer of the blood). In further discussions with two others doctors who confirmed the diagnosis, they say I have about 6 weeks to live. I just want to let all you guys know how much fun I've had on these board and the hospitality KY Horse and Massive Horns have shown me in the past. It's been a great hunting life beginning with opening an archery shop in Minnesota back in 1961, to shooting my biggest deer with bow (scored 183) in Ohio about 15 years ago. One of my biggest thrills was taking my first turkey with a bow in Kentucky, at Massive's, with a perfect shot at 40 yards. Since then I've taken a few others. Another thrill was taking a coyote at 40 yards with my bow while Elk hunting in Colorado. Living in Eastern Utah and Western Colorado for about 15 years gave me opportunities to take several elk with my bow. Also pigs in Florida and deer in North and South Dakota and Minnesota. I got a chance to get to know Fred Bear when his plant was in Grayling, Michigan. You have to remember I was into this sport in it's infancy. I made my own bowstrings, arrows, etc. We carried Bear and Hoyt bows and I bought directly from the manufactures. I also hunted with, and knew, and several other notables from Quaker Boy company. I'm a "life member" of the NWTF. It's been a great life.

So true, so true.
I try and praise God and give thanks for what I have. Constant complaining is a sin, IMHO.
I will pray for this man that he makes his peace with God while he is here.
This is terrible on so many levels. My thoughts and prayers go out to him and his friends and family.
May the Creator watch over you and your friend. I only hope I can be half the man when it is my turn.
Prayers up
prayers up!!!
My prayer for you and yours. May he always have good bow hunting in his great journey.
A buddy posted John's passing: Just wanted to let everybody know that John passed away Friday night 1/24 at 11:57 pm. I spoke with his wife on the phone last night for a good 30 minutes. She said he went much faster than they all thought but he was ready and went mostly pain free. She was in a great mood and said John made it good for her and everyone up to the end. When he passed it was just her and him and he went peacefully. All I can say to you all is to get right with the Lord and HE can give you this kind of peace over your life! John would want it that way! Amen!
Dave my prayers and sympathy go out to the family but it sounds like his soul was ready.
Thanks. John was a great guy and the friend who was their before you ever shook hands .
Amen Davehawk
