I started another painting FINALLY ! I got back into the studio. I put a show together of 16 paintings , my 1st show. the opening was very exciting for me.
Hope you like this little guy. Not the ML gun but the guy who owns the puppy may buy this one.

Boy, you've already nailed that beautiful walnut buttstock.
I would hope no one would quibble on the issue of the gun in the painting being something other than a muzzleloader. Someone who couldn't appreciate the beauty of any well-crafted firearm, stocked in fine wood and captured to perfection in what will undoubtably be a great painting, would be a poor and petty soul indeed.
And what breed of four-legged friend is the pup, if I might ask? Or do I have to wait to see how that's revealed as you work?
Mongrel I think it's a Brit. Cute little guy. But he will be last to be completed.
Thanks for the complement. I hope to finish the stock this evening. It's been driving me crazy getting the grain and fad's worked out and then the glare off the stock , plus the roll,it's nut's I tell ya ! LOL
Brits are good-looking dogs, and as we all know there's no such thing as a puppy that isn't adorable. I'm really looking forward to seeing this one move forward.
Finally able to get a good long day in the studio. Puppy is starting to come forth.

Being as how I love dogs and nice guns like I do, maybe I'm a wee bit prejudiced, but this is shaping up to be maybe the best of your work I've seen so far. No slam on anything else you've done! The raccoon and the red fox both were masterpieces, and I've seen nothing of yours I DIDN'T like. This one though may be the best of them all.
I doubt an original of yours would be within my means, but if you ever get to where you consider selling prints of your work, consider me in line for at least three.
Thanks Mongrel, I don't know what the limitations are for selling on here. But PM me and I'll let you know what my prices are for prints of all my pieces.
Thanks I'm getting a lot of likes on this guy. The owner of the gun and puppy saw this and wants to buy it. I want to offer it to him for a reasonable price but that even harder to come to then doing the painting. LOL
There is no high limit on the sales area - but because we are cheap we may have to sue you for the heart attack the sticker shock causes :)
DaveHawk, my neighbor is also an artist. I showed him your pictures posted here. he said they are beautiful and he likes the detail you put into your art. He is a stickler for detail.
ps my neighbor painted a picture of an Eagle for us, sort of to repay a favor for maintaining his grounds. He says that the price on that painting would be in the range of $7,000.00 So I am presuming that the paintings by DaveHawk are in the same general area or more.
Mine run between 3.5 - 6 K prints 250- 300
Did some time in the studio again last night. The shop is a bit slow so I am leaving about an hr early, I like getting into the studio before 5 to get about 4 hrs in.

thmbsup Wow Dave just wow! This one is absolutely beautiful.
I can really see the "trouble" in those eyes! 10 seconds after you take your eyes off that pup the bag will be a chew toy!
40 years of raising dogs has taught me MANY things. ;D
Thanks Hawken & Dog. I still want to give the eyes a bit more work after I finish the body. I'm also thinking of throwing in a lanyard with Duck an or goose leg bands mybey a couple calls.
What do you think ?

personally I would not add anything else, to much would be a distraction IMHO but it is your canvas and you are the expert I am only an admirer, trying to think which bank to rob to afford this painting... will you accept bills that might be stained with that powder they they put in the moneybags? cuch bunkr
Red ...now don't go getting yourself in trouble. LOL
Thanks Red.
I took a day to hunt in Va yesterday and got the monkey off my back with a shot on a Doe. I watched her come out of the woods with her yearling 150 yards out and pass me with 30 yards and I was not going to shoot her but then I got this wild hair and turned and shot. See the hind leg buck and I knew I got heart. After I found her 50 yards in the field walked up to the top field and saw Mr. Big walking in the field with 7 doe's , unfortunately he saw me 1st. But next year he will be about 160 class. and I will own him LOL. But at least I got did not get skunked this season, for a half hearted effort this season, which if I did it would be only the 2nd season after my 2nd season hunting deer 30 years ago. I butcher the deer up with the land owner and he said what parts are you taking I told him nothing. This is for you. I always give the meat of my 1st deer to the land owner. He was HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY ! as I showed him the way to extract the roasts from the hams and pull the loins out and the fish and neck and shoulders.
Back to the studio tonight.
Happy Thanksgiving all !

Beautiful DaveHawk,absolutely beautiful.
Wow DaveHawk, that is sooo beautiful and realistic. I can feel the coolness of that gun stock against my cheek and my fingers are just itching to scratch those curly ears. Bravo, real artists spark real emotions with their work and you have accomplished that to perfection. Thank you for sharing! thmbsup thmbsup thmbsup thmbsup
