Woody,
I won't be there, going to a table shoot in Indiana, but anyone who has an interest should go. The Log Cabin Shop does a fine job putting this trade fair together and they deserve to be supported. This show should become the Dixon's of the mid west.

I'll be leaving at approximately zero-dark-thirty on Friday morning to arrive before the official start time of noon, and am going to be there till the show's done Saturday evening. I'll be sharing a table with Bob Rubbo, who will also be handing out NMLRA info at the table next to ours. Looking forward to meeting up with new friends and old, both.

I had the Pleasure of meeting Mike Lange (Mongrel) and Fred Woods (Woody) at this event today, Enjoyed talking with both, But I must report that Mongrel is nothing like his reputation. Truly a gentleman, Sorry to ruin your scarlet reputation Mike...  In the picture Left to right is Woody - Mongrel - and Grey fox.    Tim

Sorry Fred - it really is a nice picture. when I click on attach; there is no "Choose File" like it says in the instructions. I may have to have the neighbor kid help me - as both of mine are in college. He is a really computer savvy guy - and all of 9 or 10 years old. I'll keep trying until I get it right...

No need to be sorry Tim.....I figure the members will appreciate the extra time to prepare themselves. ;D

In addition to meeting and talking with lots of nice folks I picked up a nice little strap for my horn yesterday (horn in photo). The bag is one I made and posted earlier, I still need to find another strap similar to the horn strap I found or make one from leather when I get a new supply.  I wish there would have been a few more folks set up but it was a very nice event.

I enjoyed the show well enough to put in a request for a table of my own, next year. Good to have met Grey Fox, good to see Woody and Ken Netting and some other acquaintances from Friendship, again, and great to have finally experienced the Log Cabin Shop. For those who love this pasttime, the store and museum are open six days a week, 8:30 in the morning till 6 at night, and though they aren't huge in terms of square footage you could spend hours in the place and never get bored. Old guns, old books, gun parts, tools, supplies for everything from gunbuilding to beadwork to leatherwork to.... Just everything. And the Kindig crew are some of the flat-out nicest people I've ever met.

As Papa said, this event deserves to be bigger. Myself and the vendor next-door to me, at the Friendship Shoots, both attended for the first time this year, and will both be going back. I can promise anyone interested, that attending (even just to shop and look around) would be well-worth the time and effort.

Either use a photo program to make it smaller or post it to something like photobucket first, then post the IMG code from the site you posted it to...

Using Photobucket or a similar picture-hosting site is the easiest way of posting pictures here. If there's a way of transferring a picture from my Windows Photo Gallery (where everything goes from the camera) directly to here, I have no idea what it is.

Yes the point made by Grey Fox was in reference to the picture size.  But as you can see from the quote I posted from Mongrel I was addressing his statement of

"a way of transferring a picture from my Windows Photo Gallery (where everything goes from the camera) directly to here"

And while resizing may be a concern for him he didn't mention the picture size issue in his statement.

I beg to differ...

Misunderstanding and miscommunication, here....

Grey Fox mentioned the picture size being a problem, I didn't. MedSol was addressing my statement that posting a picture directly from Windows was something I hadn't figured out. I should have mentioned that I run into the same issue Grey Fox did, which is that my pictures as they post into Windows Photo Gallery are too large for a direct transfer. I gave the impression that I simply don't know how to upload a picture, which isn't the case, when actually all I was doing was getting the point across to Grey Fox that the use of a "middleman" site like PhotoBucket is necessary to get pictures from the camera to here -- the same point Rev was making, but I did a poor job of wording my agreement.

Grey Fox -- Tim -- and anyone else having difficulty with photo posting -- in the category "Technical Help" the very first Sticky'ed post concerns posting photos, using PhotoBucket specifically. A few minutes spent studying that might be helpful.

Mongrel,

This a way to resize in Windows Live Photo Gallery. At least using Photo Gallery 2011.  Other versions may of course be different. It is certainly not an automatic thing as each picture will have of to be resized and of course the resized picture will then need to be used for the upload to the site.

Open Photo Gallery.

Select and open a file on the left.

Select a picture and double click to open.

Click on Properties in the Organize area (the little box under the flag, under the star - best way I can describe it).

Click on resize.

Select a size on the drop down menu under select a size.

Click Resize & Save.

An option to open and start Photo gallery is to Double Click on a picture in Windows Explorer and it should open up a Photo Gallery viewer with that picture.

In the viewer Click on Edit, Organize or Share

It will open Photo Gallery and show the pictures in the file that has the picture you opened and go from there as listed above.

When the picture you have resized is saved it will be listed with the same name with the size added.

The two pictures attached were resized from a picture that was originally 2.42 MB in size.  The 640 x 480 is now 300 kb and the 800 x 600 is 495 kb.

With your use of photobucket you may not really need to do it this way for this site but it might be helpful to you, Grey Fox, and others (that have Windows Photo Gallery) who want to resize pictures for other reasons or find it more convenient than using photobucket or those who prefer not to have to use photobucket such as myself.
