Title: .50 Velocities
Post by: Hanshi on September 11, 2013
My rifle for this season is an EL with a .50 Rice swamped round groove 38" barrel.  Using 70grns by volume in my fixed measure (71grns when weighed) I got 1700fps.  I thought that was sorta high so I weighed that volume to make sure.  I'm currently shooting Jacks Battle Powder.  That load is wonderfully accurate even out to 100 yds where it is about dead on.  Recoil is noticeable in that light rifle, too.  That same weight charge in my .45 only gives maybe 100fps or less.  Anyone chronographing that charge (+ or -)?  I'm delighted at the power and accuracy and wonder if this is to be expected from other rifles.
