To the best of my knowledge, all of the H&A undrhammers used the same components and all had a half cock notch. Someone, in the past, may have removed this one and dressed off the hammer.

I assume they wanted to significantly lighten the trigger pull and, since there is no fly to prevent the hammer from falling into the half-cock notch they simply removed it.  A lot of mule ear locks don't have a half cock notch to allow the use of set triggers, mine included. I happen to have an H&A underhammer pistol like the one pictured and it does have the half cock notch.

that`s interesting !  always liked underhammers ! homely buggers but they tend to be accurate  shooters !

They are very accurate. Instantaneous ignition coupled with the fact that the impact of the hammer is straight upwards from the center of the underside of the barrel. Does not have the torqueing effect from the impact of a conventional (not mule ear) sidehammer. Especially important for a pistol.  If I did not already have one I would grab this one....whoever winds up with it will have a really budget-priced tackdriver.
