Title: "Holy Chicken" rifle inlay
Post by: azwidget on April 22, 2013
When I took my 3 day workshop on engraving I met a very interesting guy, a gun builder from Minnesota. I was wearing some of the trade silver I make, and he asked if I could make him a special inlay for a rifle he's building.

He showed me a picture of it in the Canadian book "The Covenant Chain", one of a very few good books on trade silver. It's a primitively done multi-lobed cross, with a depiction of a bird in the center. He wanted me to make it look as if it had been done by a gunsmith with the typical level of skill a gunsmith might possess.

Looks like it'll be a real bugger to inlay!

So are you going to have him put a duplicate on your rifle for "practice"?
