You do know that #7 1/2  Shot is smaller than #4? We have the same Law here.

I went shooting yesterday, thought about cutting back 10gr. on the Powder, had a couple Squirrels by the House.I unloaded both barrels on one,i had to finish him off with a Rifle but only two shot penetrated the Skin.Hard to believe 10gr. Powder would make that much difference.

7 1/2 is definately smaller then 4. I use 7 1/2 for doves/quail....#6 for pheasant...#4 rabbits, but thats just me...to each his own....4 or 6 should work for turkey....my 16ga likes 65gr or so powder and up to 80gr shot...you should be able to use at least 100gr powder and more shot...in 12ga.
used to shoot old 3 3/4 dram equivalant shot shells in old 12 double  that works out at about 100gr.

My son & I have "Rayl" bbl. on our smoothies, that he o.k.s for steel shot. His bbl. are really tough, I had to sharpen my graver 3 times to sign bbl.  So we shoot regular steel BB gun ammo in them.  Works great on all but doves & quail, 7-1/2 on those.  70 gr. =shot in 16 & 50 =shot in 20......Tom

In my 10 bore Bess: 70grs 3f,yes,3,over powdere card, wad of some kind, over shot card,1-1/2 to 2 measures of #6 shot, and another over shot card.

Basicly the same in all my smooth bores except for "Wormy",my .40 smooth rifle. 60gr of 3f,3 .44 cal wonder wads,@1-1/2 measures of shot and another .44cal wonder wad. My most deadly firearm!

An oz and a half of shot is a large load over just 80 gr of powder. I would try 90-100 grs of 2f with that load. Or reduce the shot load to 90 grs and use the 80 gr of powder. Of course all of this depends on how well yur gun patterns the loads.
