Title: Quilled Sheath & Knife
Post by: Rev on September 20, 2012
This is a very nice traditional  Great Plains knife sheath & knife.... The body of the sheath is 9" long, 3"wide at the top, 2" wide below... hand scraped, rawhide lined, elk sinew sewn, quilled on braintanned buckskin.... beautifully dyed porcupine quills. Actual colors are slightly more earth toned. I was unable to verify the maker for certain so I am calling it non-native. I took it in trade from a fella who called himself Jay Red Hawk. The knife (made by me) is made from a industrial saw blade, the guard is antiqued brass & the handle is deer leg bone.
