Post by: Bulldog lady on August 07, 2012, 04:03:17 AM
Recipe from our electric coop mag.  1 can of peach and 1 can apple pie filling in dutch oven, sprinkle one box yellow cake mix, pour 1 can ( any flavor) soda over top, cover and bake till smells good (aprox 30 min)  haven't tried but going to - in house till fire ban off.

Sounds like a killer to clean out of the Dutch, but also sounds really good!  Be sure to post your results!

Really not that bad when it comes to cleaning the dutch oven.

Drop the soda, cut 1 stick Butter, not margarine, on top.  thmbsup Wonderful! Will try the soda, never heard of that. [hmm] However, a nice side for that would be: 1 tall mug with a slice of lemon in bottom, filled with steaming hot Dr. P.  strpot  A shot of bourbon really brings it together! Try it on a really cold day.

Did this Sat. at camp. Rubbed alum. foil with butter and lined the dutch oven (hate to scrub my DO) 2 cans peaches in heavy syrup, white cake mix sprinkled on top, 8 oz Sprite (7 Up) dribbled over cake mix. 35 min with coals under and on cover(More on cover) Great topped with vanilla ice cream. Think I'll try apple next week.

We've used this recipe many times, but not with soda, with just butter. It tastes as good as it sounds.

thanks guys for trying it, never got around to it, thinking cherry filling and cola might work,  at least the coop recipes are better than their elec service out here in the boonie!    :mini-devil-28492:

Sprite or any lemon lime soda works great. As long as dutch is seasoned well no problem cleaning. Umm  BH
