Title: Tonight's dinner!!!
Post by: Dogshirt on July 02, 2012, 03:19:37 AM
Tonight for dinner, my wife made a beef pot pie in her Dutch oven, and followed it with a chocolate/cherry
cobbler! Maybe not the most traditional recipes, but I'm so stuffed I can hardly walk. dntn

Can't beat dutch oven whether on fire or in oven.  tender and moist.  Use the flat bottom in oven and footed ones in fire.  if'n your new just be careful with tomatoe/acid base foods, they play with seasoned coating you work so hard to put on.  Bought some of the liners and not to impressed, get in the way! but did have nice recipe incert,  including prep stuff make at home and reduce mess when in camp.  breakfast bake, lasagna, and pineapple upside down cake ( that be a trick turning out heavy oven on plate).  Good job Lady - gots to keep those poor starving men happy  :mini-devil-28492:

and don't worry,   that beef pot pie is very "period correct"  at least as far back as the English Civil War.   thmbsup
