Here is a step by step of the construction of my latest knife.
I used an old lawnmower blade for the steel.
Heated cherry red then pounded flat.

Cut to length. I wanted a smaller knife with just a 6 1/4 inch blade.

Cut out with the band saw

Looks great. Curious as to temp and time you temper it at in the oven. Each of us have different times and temps we prefer, and think itd be cool to get a discussion going on that. Voy
looks real good, wish i was that handy.
I went about 475 for 1 Hour. I keep them a little soft. I would rather sharpen it more than risk it breaking.
Nice job!! Really enjoyed the process in picture's!!

I love to make things from scrap. I'm a born garbage picker. dntn
That's really cool rifleshooter2. I never thought a lawn mower blade could be a knife. It's real nice too.
Walker, see if you can find an old railroad spike, when you and your dad come over we will see about making a knife form it and a couple of old mower blades I have around here... And yes we will take pictures!
If you need one, I have some HC (High Carbon) spikes...
