I was wondering if anyone from the forums was going to be attending this spring's Woolaroc encampment on the April 13th & 14th. I have convinced my wife to come with me to "check out" the hobby as visitors. I didn't know if anyone from the forum would be there to meet and talk to about getting started. The last time I had her at an event (civil war) it was near freezing temps and she was 6 months pregnant with my youngest daughter (who turned 17 today) leaving her with a negative impression of reenacting altogether.
It has been so long since either of us had tried this I was hoping for something close (I'm in Joplin, MO), that is a good event and hopefully had some of the friendly people from this forum attending. I would hate it if my wife dipped her toes back in only to run into some stitch counting-pc worshiping, hard nose and turn her off to reenacting again.
Is Woolaroc a good choice, or should I look for another event?

I think Bulldog Lady and Red Badger are attending, send a PM to either one of them.
Good Lord willin, and the creeks don't rise - we be there. plannin on going up Wed 11 or Thurs, 12. A beautiful camp site, trees, creek and pond, wild critters (buffs are in pens). Ice ($)and drinking water available as is firewood. If should get bored there is the museum - fantastic!! This is usually the bigger of the two rondy's a year they have . Folks are oh so nice. and about everything you could want as far as traders and then just folks like us who come out and have fun. Forgot have showers available also, and porta potties!! dntn Bartlesville is only about 15 miles away and Barnsdall is just down the road about 5 miles if forget anything. They do require period dress Fri and sat but not thread counters by anymeans. Canvas hides a multitude of modern convience's! (sp)
love to see you and misses. We usually camp up across from the buff pens as you come in, Just look for the Red Badger camp. Always like to meet forum members in person, adds a lot to it - like family. Talking Bear has it on his forum if you have any questions or just pm us. Looking forward to meeting you. Bulldog Lady and Red Badger
