Got for sale a walnut Hawken halfstock blank. Already mostly inletted for a 1" diameter barrel and drilled for a 3/8" ramrod with slightly less than a 1/4" web of wood between the barrel channel and ramrod hole -- perfect to accomodate most barrel ribs. As can be seen much of the rough shaping has been done on some form of duplicator, with squared-off portions left to make it easy to keep things like the buttplate and drilled holes square to the overall lines of the stock. The lock and sideplate panels and cheekpiece are basically of correct shape for a later-period halfstock and are oversized and rough enough yet to be modified to an earlier or completely different (non-Hawken) pattern. The walnut is a good, hard variety with basically straight grain and moderate color contrast. The forend is just over 15" long and the butt will allow for up to a 14 1/2" length of pull if the buttplate is fitted with absolutely no room to spare.
Track Of The Wolf gets $110 plus shipping for a walnut stock that's been shaped somewhat more closely than this but is still not inletted for lock, triggers, or buttplate. Price here is $75, shipped.
