Title: After Bear den photos again
Post by: Capn D on November 21, 2011, 09:35:53 PM
Three times we have tried to circumnavigate a large piece of remote property surrounding a mtn. in N. Georgia.  First time out, we got between a large sow bear and cub and turned back after a near miss.  Second time, cutting trail and taping the lines, one of the guys hit my ankle with a bush axe and fortunately, with a cut crutch I was able to slowly hobble the 2 miles back we had made.  This time we are well into bear season, I am taking my .595 and a heavy dragoon in the same caliber.  The path has all been cut (no more bush axes) finally and hopefully we'll make it and paint all the blazed trees.  The big bear dens dug into the bluff about 2 miles in are to be photographed, explored and put on our map.  I'll try to take some good shots with the camera.

I was taught to carry a pistol, not for the bear but for the feller with me... a slug to the kneecap makes running faster than me highly improbable....  :mini-devil-28492:
