here is a copy of the knife from the movie the hunted, my version. 11.5 inches long 1/4 inch thick 1095, osage scales draw blade, skinner and a saw back with a lanyard so it dont slip out of your hand. Been workin hard on this for the last 2 days. didnt really put a finish on the blade because it is to be used not looked at.
Nice looking knife standingwolf !!
Now there is a working knife...Osage scales-pretty, but never seen the wood/tree..they must grow in your area...

osage is found danged near everywhere in north america . http://www.osagearboretum.com/wikipedia.htm
Nice looking blade. Took the same course as shown in the movie. Still cannot turn out an even workable blade...
that one is for sale or trade
beowolf---never seen one/ won't grow here. still looks like nice wood....Maybe sometime while traveling I will get to see/recognize it and can get a limb or something to work with.....

If you get a peice of osage, make sure it is green. Once it is dry it is in the top
10 of the hardest wood in the world.
It is also called Bodark. I know there is another way to spell it, but you might recognise the sound of it better than the true spelling.
makes some of the best long bows you`ll ever see . back in the old days it was often used instead of metal for buggy springs . here`s a better piece about it . http://www.fpl.fs.fed.us/documnts/usda/amwood/248osage.pdf
Beowulf, thanks for the info..that second site really was great info..good pictures and discriptions. we have black locust locally, but sadly no Osage...
