any clue to what buffalo cider is. i was on this website and it says buffalo cider "The fluid found in the stomach of the buffalo. Used by both mountain men and Indians to quench thirst."
dont sound to thirst quinching to me. http://www.xmission.com/~drudy/amm/gloss.html
Tried it out of last years elk and was really suprised.. Elk had been eating juniper and had lots of water in ponch...didn't taste all that bad...and was definitely water..can see how old timers could have used it to quench thirts if to far to water hole and no canteen....

That doesn't sound good at all :blech:. But i guess if your desperate to survive, it's a way to...
Where do you get this stuff to ask about Kris?
the link i posted earlier has mountain man terms and its on the list
Kris I like that link, it is one I have in my favorites ever since I have had a computer.
You just keep reading and asking questions, that is the only way a person will learn.
You keep asking Kris, I try to learn at least one new thing every day... and with you asking I usually learn something along with you... saves aggravating my brain trying to figure out what to ask.... strpot
Also you never know when you will get on a trivia show and get asked a question like these... :mini-devil-28492:
Hey kris that's a cool web site, man that kid know's more than I did about this stuff at his age, heck at the age I am now.
seems we are forming a ''Kris is a neat kid" fan club...sure wish I had been exposed to this stuff at his age..could of had a lot of fun that I missed out on..

The Comanche NDNs would ride a horse to ground. They would slash the throat, open the stomach and pull out the guts. The gut was wrapped around the neck of the rider. The rider would mount the extra horse and continue to ride while sucking the contents of the gut. The Texas Rangers hardly ever caught these warriors on the open plains. The white men most likely learned this cider drinking from the First Nations.
Very interesting, knew they often had two horses and switched off riding one then the other, wonder what the surviving horse had to drink? :mini-devil-28492:
ROFL :mini-devil-28492: I thought buffalo cider was when smart alec furry critter slipped Texas Pete in the apple pie.(Any resemblence to Red Badger is purely coincedental)
Keep on learnin Kris ya doin good pal.
Can only imagine he was drinking in the incentive to run as long as could. pnic
