Title: Thunder Boomers
Post by: DEADDAWG on June 23, 2011
Had a little bit of a thunderstorm come through with high winds last night. It had to happen sooner or later that I got some damage from a storm. Well it happened last night. Unfortunately it ended up being my canoe. I finally have a job that gives me most every weekend off and I was looking forward to getting back into caoneing again, I love canoeing and fishing along the way. I bought this canoe 9 years ago on clearance for $1400. Now I've got to deal with the homeowners insurance so that I can at least get a decent replacement. Won't be the same one unfortunately, they cost too much now. It was a Merrimack Prospector and a dream to paddle. Here's a picture of what it looks like now.

Now that's enough to make me cry. Somehow I don't think it will ever paddle near as good as it used to. bunkr

Kids!  When I was young it was baling wire. I don't think you can even get baling wire anymore.
It's all twine now, can't fix squat with that!

Yes you can still get bailing wire - only they call it safety wire now and it's about three times the cost....  pnic
As for the canoe all I can do is echo the thoughts - it could have been your house or one of the family...

If you have replacement value then you should do alright... It costs more but I like the piece of mind it gives me...

You can still get the old fashion bailing wire and is about twice the DOA of what you are calling safety wire. The real problem is you have to buy a pallet at a time
that means 20 rolls, that would be enough for very one on this site.

Dunno about that, we are a pretty crafty bunch  strpot of old folks who happen to know what to do with it, which is everything. Ran out some time ago, send any extra my way. I will find a use for it!
