Title: Middlesex Village Trading Company "Ships Carbine"
Post by: creosote on May 02, 2011

I just today took delivery of a Brown Bess "Ships Carbine" that I got from Middlesex Village Trading company.
I am very pleased with this little .75 caliber carbine, it was made in India and cost me $499.00 and freight.

Wendy at Middlesex took my order and told me right at the start that they were behind two months.
I went ahead and placed the order from them because of the good things I have read about thier family operated bussiness.

I was very happy to recieve my musket exactly two months from placing the order.
The little gun has greatly exceeded my expectations, in fact I had planned to have to put many hours of labor into it to get it it to look decent.

After looking it over I wiped it off and took five paper ctartridges I had made up two months ago out into my front yard
and loaded and fired all of them in a very few minutes, without so much as a single flash in the pan or hang fire.
  .
So now I will be busy runnin lead and wrapping cartridges instead of fooling with the gun.
Back in 1970 I bought a "Hawkin" flintlock from Thompson Center, after that I hated Flintlocks, but this huge lock on the bess with
a good english flint throws an intense ball of sizzeling sparks into the pan. The cock points directly at the touch hole in
the fired position.

I got this gun to fool around with out in the desert that I live in,and am starting to have thoughts of the Utah muzzle loader
season .

          Regards,creosote

You know the funny thing about the india made guns is that everyone i know that owns them loves them. Most of the guys that dont own them think they are terrible.

I fully intend to get a couple of them soon.
