i got a nice wool felt cowboy hat i was wonderin if it could be used for french and indian time period since it is felt. or should i stick with dead animals on my head ROFL
Neither actually. Depending on what impression you are doing; a silk solid color bandana on your head, a tricorn hat, a toque or a monmoth cap would be appropriate. There may be other types of head gear that I am not remembering at the time. Others could jump in and fill in the rest.
This is a link to Clearwater hats

They explain historic hat's and time period common to use etc...
I cut down an old Fur Felt hat Grandpa had and made a Tricorn out of it.
It was in rough shape from years of being a toy for the Great Grand kids but that makes it look even better thmbsup
at their good prices i think jas townsend is kinda overcharging
wait i was looking at the brim price the hats are up there to hdslp
Thats a good site for reference, a little too rich for my wallet. Take your hat hammerhead, seperate the brim from the cap, trim the cap down, sew the brim back on,poke the divot out. Thats the idea some of the folks here gave me, works pretty good.
If it is a quality fur felt you can sream it and block it to wha tever shape you want. That dose not make it right though. Consider a canada cap.
think i may just stick with my fox hat for awhile the cowboy hat is brand new and i dont wanna mess it up but i will look into one of the other hats you guys recommended thank you all
