Title: Coonskin caps
Post by: Bison Horn on March 20, 2011, 10:33:08 AM
Trapped a ladies place this last winter for beav & coon and while talking with her the subject of doing crafts and such came up. She wanted to know could I make coonskin caps for her grandsons. I said sure could after I get the hides tanned. She wanted to pay for making them but I said no, but I did settle for trapping rights and hunting for as long as I wanted to use the property. Here's the hats.

those are beauties, I wish I had the time to learn that skill. I can shoot, skin, clean, and cook'em, but I haven't done a skin since high school, and I can't begin to remember how I did it. I want a red fox or coyote, one of these days I will find the pelt and make a hat.

A Rolodex is a card file that is inexpensive, doesn't take up a lot of space, and lets you write info on cards that stay attached to a cylinder that you can rotate around to find things in alphabetical order. Basically it is a round card file on an axle.
